Recent Basford jobs, exactly as the customer saw them
Every clean gets a GoPro before-and-after sent the same day. Here’s what that looks like on real Basford houses — a Victorian terrace in Old Basford with foliage taking over, and a gutter on the Haydn Road side with grass growing out of the outlet — what we found, what we did, and what the customer said afterwards. All our Google reviews are below.

Victorian terrace, Vernon Avenue NG6
Overgrown front and back, overflowing every time it rained
- ●What we found
A slate-roofed terrace in Old Basford with the original cast-iron gutters, and foliage taking over both of them. The front run had grass growing out of it along the street, and the rear run beside the back-addition valley was packed with moss, leaves and seedlings, with moss on both roof slopes feeding it. The gutters had been overflowing in every downpour.
- ●What we did
Full SkyVac clear of the front and rear runs from the ground — grass, moss, roots and compost out — then every outlet and downpipe flushed until they ran. Nothing leaning on the slates. We talked the customer through what was feeding the gutters and when it would need doing again.
- ●Result
Front and rear gutters clear and draining, no more overflow, and a customer who has already pencilled in next year. GoPro before and after sent the same day.
“Wonderful service!! So happy with the professionalism and advice provided. Helped clean the overgrown foliage that was taking over and now the gutters no longer overflow. Can now enjoy the rain without the worry. 100% recommend and already plan to repeat for next year”

House on Haydn Road, Moores Place NG5
A clump of grass sitting right on top of the outlet
- ●What we found
A concrete-tiled roof shedding moss into a plastic gutter, and the moss rotted down into enough soil for a clump of grass to take root — right over the outlet, because that is where the water carries everything. From the pavement it was a tuft of green at the corner of the roof; on the camera it was a plug that had stopped the downpipe completely.
- ●What we did
SkyVac clear of the full run from the ground, the clump and its roots lifted out of the outlet, then the outlet and downpipe flushed until they ran clear. The after shot is taken from the same spot, looking straight down into the hole the grass was sitting on.
- ●Result
Gutter clear and the outlet open and draining. The moss on the tiles is a roof job and stays, so this one will need doing again; the customer knows roughly when. GoPro before and after sent the same day.

Gutter cleaning services for Basford homes
From blocked terrace gutters to planned twice-a-year cleans — all done from the ground with SkyVac and GoPro footage on every job.
Blocked Gutter Cleaning
The most common job we do in Basford. On the Victorian terraces it's moss off the slates and silt settled in a shared cast-iron run that backs up next door; on the semis it's moss off the concrete tiles and grass rooting over the outlet. We clear it, flush every downpipe and restore full flow — with GoPro evidence of every run.

Stephen Fudge
Owner & Operator · Former Local Authority Cleaning Inspector
When you book Gutter Cleaned for your Basford clean, you deal with one person from start to finish — no call centre, no subcontractors. The person who quotes the job is the person who does the work and answers the phone afterwards.
I spent years as a Local Authority Cleaning Inspector, checking other people's work was done to standard, on top of 25+ years in professional cleaning. That trained eye is what I bring to every Basford gutter I clean — and it's why every job comes with GoPro before-and-after footage, so you never have to take it on trust.
Cleaning your Basford gutters, step by step
Every clean follows the same routine — entirely from the ground, no ladders against your walls, no one on your roof.
Fixed quote
Tell us your property type and Basford postcode — we reply with a fixed price, no call-out fee.
GoPro before footage
We record every gutter run before we start, so you can see the condition and the debris level.
SkyVac clear
Vacuum poles draw out moss, silt and leaves from the ground — up to four storeys. On Basford's terraces that usually means moss and silt in a shared cast-iron run; on the semis, moss and grass over the outlet.
Downpipes flushed
We clear and confirm every downpipe is flowing before we finish.
Anything flagged
Cracked joints, sagging runs or loose brackets spotted on the way — photographed and pointed out. On the Victorian streets that's usually a failed cast-iron joint or a downpipe cracked at the collar; on the semis, a plastic run that's bowed between brackets.
Footage & tidy
Debris taken away, nothing left on your drive, and your GoPro before & after sent over the same day — easiest by WhatsApp.
If we find damage
We report it, we don't repair it. If a joint has failed, a bracket has gone or a downpipe is cracked, you get a photo and a plain explanation the same day, and it goes in your report so you have it in writing. We don't do gutter repairs, so there's no reason for us to find problems that aren't there — you decide what to do next, and you can use the footage to get a repair quoted properly.
What we find on Basford jobs
Grass growing over the outlet
Basford's semis and bungalows mostly have concrete tiles, and concrete tiles shed moss. It rots into soil in the gutter, grass roots in it, and the clump always ends up over the outlet because that's where the water carries it. From the pavement it looks like a tuft of green; from the camera it's a plug that has stopped the downpipe for a year. We clear the run and flush the outlet until it runs.
Shared runs on the terraces
The Victorian terraces of Old Basford and the streets off Vernon Road have one continuous gutter serving the row, with an outlet every few houses. When one outlet blocks the water backs up along the run and overflows at a neighbour's house, so the house with the problem is often not the house with the blockage. We flush every outlet on the run and check the flow at both ends.
Overgrowth from the gardens and the Leen
Basford has more trees and hedges than people expect — the river Leen runs through it, Vernon Park sits in the middle, and the older gardens have mature sycamores and conifers. Foliage overhanging a roof fills the gutter below it every autumn and drops seed into it every spring. We clear what's in the gutter and tell you which tree is doing it.
The property types we clean in Basford
Basford was a village on the Leen with its own church and mills until Nottingham reached it in the nineteenth century, and New Basford grew up as a lace and hosiery district alongside — so its gutters come in three eras, and each one blocks differently.
Terraces and town houses
Slate roofs, shared cast-iron gutter runs, chimney stacks that shed mortar and moss, and a back addition with its own small gutter that everyone forgets. Front and rear done from the ground, every outlet flushed, and the back addition checked as part of the job.
Inter-war semis
Hipped roofs, concrete tiles, deep half-round gutters and mature front-garden trees. Moss off the tiles collects in the sag of plastic runs fitted decades ago and sets like mortar by spring, with grass rooting over the outlet. The corner where the gutter turns to the side elevation is where it blocks.
Post-war houses and bungalows
Low-pitched roofs with long runs of plastic guttering that bows between brackets as it ages. Bungalows get ignored because they look reachable — they still fill up, and the flat-roofed garage or porch gutter is usually forgotten altogether.
Modern closes
Brick houses on courtyards with young trees and plastic gutters. Easy to reach but easy to ignore: nothing overflows until the outlet is solid. Quick to do and priced at the terrace rate.
From our office to your Basford gutters
We're based on Chelsea Street in New Basford, so for most Basford jobs the drive is the shortest we do. Here's the patch.
Basford is in the Domesday Book as Baseford and was a village on the River Leen with its own church, St Leodegarius, and a cluster of mills, long before Nottingham grew out to meet it. Old Basford is the original village around the church and Vernon Park; New Basford is the nineteenth-century lace and hosiery district that grew up along Nottingham Road and Hucknall Road, with the terraces and factories to go with it. For gutters that means Victorian shared runs and slate on one side, 1930s semis with concrete tiles on the other, and the Leen’s trees in between.
Our office is Chelsea House on Chelsea Street, just off Nottingham Road in New Basford. From there Nottingham Road and Hucknall Road run north towards Bulwell past the Basford tram stops, Haydn Road and Perry Road climb east towards Sherwood and Carrington, and Vernon Road and Church Street cross the Leen into Old Basford, past Vernon Park and the church.
Door to door it’s a few minutes anywhere in Basford, which is why a Basford overflow can usually be dealt with the same week and sometimes the same day, and why there are no travel charges anywhere in NG5 1, NG6 0 or NG7 7.
New Basford
Nottingham Road, Hucknall Road, Chelsea Street, Langtry Grove, Reigate Road, St Augustines Close and the terraces either side of the tram line — our own neighbourhood, with the shared Victorian runs and a lot of rented houses.
Old Basford and the Haydn Road side
Vernon Road, Vernon Avenue, Church Street, Park Lane and the streets around Vernon Park, plus Haydn Road, Hadbury Road, Henley Rise and Salcombe Road up towards Sherwood — the terraces, the 1930s semis and the newer closes by the Leen.
Basford streets and postcodes we cover (NG5 1, NG6 0, NG7 7)
We clean gutters across the whole of New Basford, Old Basford and the streets off Haydn Road and Hucknall Road. These are the roads and areas we work in — if yours isn't listed, we still cover it.
Plus the whole of NG5 1, NG6 0 and NG7 7. No travel charges anywhere in Basford.
Gutter cleaning in Basford, answered
How much does gutter cleaning cost in Basford?
Most Basford terraces and bungalows are £95. Semis start at £120, standard detached houses at £145 and large or three-storey houses at £160. All prices include VAT and are fixed before we start — conservatory, extension and garage gutters are quoted separately.
Do you cover New Basford and Old Basford?
Both — and everything in between. New Basford is where our office is, Old Basford is across the Leen, and we cover the whole of NG5 1, NG6 0 and NG7 7 from Vernon Park to the Hucknall Road tram stops. If you are nearby in Bulwell, Sherwood, Carrington, Radford or Hyson Green, we cover those too.
How long does a gutter clean take in Basford?
About 45 minutes for a terrace or bungalow, an hour for a 1930s semi, and up to two hours for a large detached house with garage and extension gutters. That includes the GoPro before and after and flushing every downpipe.
My gutter is overflowing but my neighbour’s looks fine — why?
Because a terrace gutter is one shared run. If the outlet at your neighbour's end is blocked, the water backs up and overflows at the lowest point, which is often your house. We flush every outlet on the run and check the flow at both ends, and tell you if the blockage is on somebody else's section.
Can you do my neighbour’s gutters at the same time?
Yes, and it works out cheaper for both of you. Several Basford jobs have come from a neighbour seeing the van and asking — two houses on the same street booked together get a better price for the pair, and the shared run gets done end to end in one go.
Is there a gutter cleaner near me in Basford?
Closer than anywhere else we work: our office is Chelsea House on Chelsea Street, New Basford, so a Basford job is a few minutes from the van’s starting point. That is why Basford overflows often get a next-day slot rather than a same-week one. Before you book any gutter cleaner, ask how they reach the gutter, whether they send footage, and whether the price is fixed before they arrive. We work from the ground, film every run, and fix the price from your property type.
How often should Basford gutters be cleaned?
Once a year for most houses, after leaf fall in November. Houses backing onto Vernon Park or the Leen, or with a big sycamore or conifer over the roof, are better twice a year — the Gutter Health Plan covers that at a fixed price, and as we are based in Basford it is the easiest booking we make.
How soon can you clean gutters in Basford?
Usually within the week, and often sooner — Basford is where our office is. Send your postcode through the form or call 0800 086 2887 and we come back the same day with a fixed price and the slots we have.
How do I pay for gutter cleaning in Basford?
By card on the day — we carry a SumUp tap-and-go machine and you get a receipt straight away. Landlords can pay by bank transfer on invoice. The price is fixed before we start, so what you're quoted is what you pay.
Do I need to be home for the gutter clean?
Yes please — the SkyVac runs off mains power, so we need an outdoor socket or a plug just inside the door. Once we're set up you can carry on with your day, and we send the GoPro before-and-after footage over the same day, easiest by WhatsApp.
