This policy explains what personal data we collect when you visit this website, ask for a quote or book a gutter clean, why we collect it, and what your rights are. It is written in plain English on purpose. For cookies, see section 5 and our Cookie Policy.
2. What we collect
Details you give us
- Your name, phone number and email address
- The address or postcode of the property, and the property type
- What you have asked for — a one-off clean, the Gutter Health Plan, a landlord or commercial job — and anything you tell us about the property, such as a conservatory or a tenant to contact
- Photos you send us of the property
Details we create doing the job
- GoPro footage and still frames of your gutters before and after the clean, which we send to you and keep as our record of the work
- Photos of any defects we point out to you
- Quotes, booking dates, invoices and payment records
Details collected automatically
- Standard website logs: IP address, browser, pages viewed, time of visit and the site you came from
- Cookie and analytics data, subject to your cookie choices (section 5)
3. How we use it
- To quote and do the job — pricing from the postcode and property type, booking a slot, arranging access with you or your tenant, and sending you the footage afterwards
- To keep in touch about the work — confirming the date, a reminder before a Health Plan visit, answering a question about the clean
- To keep records — invoices and payments for our accounts, and the before-and-after footage as evidence of the work done
- To run and improve the website — analytics, security and fixing things that break
- To meet legal obligations — tax records, insurance, and defending or bringing a legal claim if one ever arises
We do not send marketing emails or newsletters. The only unprompted contact you will get from us is a reminder that a clean is due, if you have asked for one or are on the Gutter Health Plan. Tell us to stop and we stop.
4. Our lawful basis
- Contract — most of what we do with your data is needed to give you a quote and carry out the job you have booked
- Legitimate interests — keeping footage as a record of the work, sending a reminder when a clean is due, keeping the website secure, and putting a job on the website or our Google profile only where you have said we can (we use the street, never the house number)
- Legal obligation — keeping invoices and payment records for HMRC
- Consent — non-essential cookies, and anything else we ask you for specifically. You can withdraw consent at any time.
5. Cookies
The website uses cookies for things like remembering your cookie choices, keeping the quote forms working, and measuring which pages people visit. Non-essential cookies are only set if you accept them in the banner. You can change your choice at any time here: — and the full list is on our Cookie Policy page. You can also block cookies in your browser, though some parts of the site may then not work.
6. Who we share it with
We do not sell or rent your data to anyone. It is shared only with the services we use to run the business, each of which processes it on our behalf:
- Website hosting and forms — the site is hosted in the UK and the quote forms store what you submit so we can reply
- Card payments — SumUp processes card payments on the day. Your card details go to SumUp, not to us; we see only that the payment went through
- Messaging — if you ask for footage by WhatsApp or text, it goes through that service and their terms apply
- Reviews and maps — the review widget and the map on this site are provided by Trustindex and Google, who may set their own cookies subject to your choices
- Accounts and insurance — invoices go to our accountant; a record of a job may be shared with our insurer if a claim ever arises
- The law — if we are legally required to, or to protect someone’s safety or property
7. Where it is stored
Your data is stored in the UK. Some of the services above (Google, WhatsApp, SumUp) may process data outside the UK; where they do, they rely on the UK’s adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses to protect it.
8. How long we keep it
- Quotes you did not go ahead with — deleted after 12 months
- Job records, footage and invoices — kept for six years after the job, because that is how long HMRC and our insurer can ask for them; footage is our evidence of the work if a question comes up later
- Health Plan reminders — for as long as you are on the plan, then deleted when you tell us to stop
- Website logs and analytics — the periods set out in the Cookie Policy
9. How we protect it
Data is kept on password-protected, encrypted devices and accounts with two-factor authentication where the service offers it, and only Stephen has access to it. No system is perfect, but a one-person business has one person’s worth of devices to look after, and we look after them.
10. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask us to:
- Give you a copy of the data we hold about you
- Correct anything that is wrong
- Delete it, where we do not have a legal reason to keep it (we have to keep invoices for six years, for example)
- Stop using it for a particular purpose, including reminders
- Give it to you in a usable format to pass to someone else
- Withdraw any consent you have given
Email info@guttercleaned.co.uk and we will deal with it within a month, usually much sooner. If you are not happy with how we handle it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
11. Your property in photos and footage
The before-and-after footage is yours to keep and is sent only to you (or to the landlord or agent who booked the job). We never put a job on this website, on our Google Business Profile or on social media without asking you first. If you agree, we use the street name, never the house number, and we take it down if you change your mind — just email us.
12. Children
This website and our services are for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18, and we delete it if we find we have.
13. Links to other sites
Pages on this site link to other websites — local history pages, Google Maps, the ICO. Their privacy practices are their own; check them before giving them any details.
14. Changes to this policy
If we change how we use your data we update this page and the date at the top. Anything that affects how we contact you, we tell you directly.
15. Contact
