Our Work in West Bridgford

Three recent West Bridgford jobs, exactly as the customer saw them

Every clean gets a GoPro before-and-after sent the same day. Here’s what that looks like on real West Bridgford houses — a 1930s semi, a family house under the trees and a Victorian with its original cast iron — what we found, what we did, and what the customer said afterwards. All our Google reviews are below.

Moss end to end, and a leak the owners couldn’t place

October 2025GoPro footage sent same day
  • ●
    What we found

The classic West Bridgford job. Eltham Road is a street of 1930s semis with concrete tiles, and concrete tiles grow moss. Every clump that dries out and slides off the roof lands in the gutter, and by the time we arrived the front run was full from one end to the other — a solid green carpet with the water finding its way over the front edge instead of down the pipe. The owners had a damp patch inside and couldn’t tell where it was coming from.

  • ●
    What we did

SkyVac clear of every run from the ground, then each outlet and downpipe flushed until it ran. With the gutter empty we could see what the moss had been hiding: where the water was actually escaping, and why. We filmed it and walked the owners through it, so they knew exactly where their leak was before we left.

  • ●
    Result

Gutter clear the full length of the roof and draining properly. The moss on the tiles above is still there — we clean gutters, not roofs — so this is a house that will fill again, and the owners know roughly when. GoPro before and after sent the same day.

Meet the Owner

The person cleaning your West Bridgford gutters

Stephen Fudge, owner of Gutter Cleaned and former Local Authority Cleaning Inspector

Stephen Fudge

Owner & Operator · Former Local Authority Cleaning Inspector

When you book Gutter Cleaned for your West Bridgford clean, you deal with one person from start to finish — no call centre, no subcontractors. The person who quotes the job is the person who does the work and answers the phone afterwards.

I spent years as a Local Authority Cleaning Inspector, checking other people's work was done to standard, on top of 25+ years in professional cleaning. That trained eye is what I bring to every West Bridgford gutter I clean — and it's why every job comes with GoPro before-and-after footage, so you never have to take it on trust.

How It Works

Cleaning your West Bridgford gutters, step by step

Every clean follows the same routine — entirely from the ground, no ladders against your walls, no one on your roof.

1

Fixed quote

Tell us your property type and West Bridgford postcode — we reply with a fixed price, no call-out fee.

2

GoPro before footage

We record every gutter run before we start, so you can see the condition and the debris level.

3

SkyVac clear

Vacuum poles draw out moss, silt and leaves from the ground — up to four storeys. On the Edwardian streets that usually means silt and lime leaves settled in cast-iron; on the semis towards Compton Acres, moss off the tiles.

4

Downpipes flushed

We clear and confirm every downpipe is flowing before we finish.

5

Anything flagged

Cracked joints, sagging runs or loose brackets spotted on the way — photographed and pointed out. On the older West Bridgford houses that's usually a failed cast-iron joint or a cracked ogee section.

6

Footage & tidy

Debris taken away, nothing left on your drive, and your GoPro before & after sent over the same day — easiest by WhatsApp.

If we find damage

We report it, we don't repair it. If a joint has failed, a bracket has gone or a downpipe is cracked, you get a photo and a plain explanation the same day, and it goes in your report so you have it in writing. We don't do gutter repairs, so there's no reason for us to find problems that aren't there — you decide what to do next, and you can use the footage to get a repair quoted properly.

Why West Bridgford Gutters Block

What we find on West Bridgford jobs

Lime and plane leaf load on the avenues

West Bridgford was laid out with tree-lined streets, and a century on the limes and planes along Musters Road, Melton Road and the roads around Bridgford Park are huge. They drop leaves, seed and sticky honeydew from September through December, and a gutter that was clear in August is holding a pond by November. Overflowing at the corner where the gutter turns to the side elevation is the usual call.

Silt in cast-iron and ogee gutters

The Edwardian villas and semis are often still on original cast-iron or moulded ogee gutters. They sag between brackets, so silt and roof grit collect in the low points and set solid over summer. It doesn't look blocked from the pavement until water is tipping over the front edge.

Valley gutters and bay roofs

Almost every older West Bridgford house has a bay window with its own small roof, and many have a valley where an extension meets the main roof. Both trap debris that never reaches the main gutter, and both are invisible from the ground. We check and clear them as part of the job rather than leaving them for the next storm to find.

West Bridgford Housing

The property types we clean in West Bridgford

West Bridgford grew from a village into a planned Edwardian suburb after the Musters family released their land, then filled out through the 1930s — so its gutters come in every era, and each one blocks differently.

Edwardian · Musters Road, Melton Road, the avenues

Villas and semis on the planned estate

The West Bridgford Estate was laid out on a grid after 1900, with the biggest houses on Musters Road and Melton Road and smaller ones on the side streets. Tall, often three storeys, with bays, valleys and cast-iron or ogee gutters. We clean them entirely from the ground — no ladders against 110-year-old brickwork, no one on a bay roof.

Victorian · Lady Bay, around Central Avenue

Terraces and town houses

Lady Bay's terraces and the older streets around Central Avenue and Bridgford Road have shared gutter runs where one blocked outlet backs up next door. We flush every outlet on the run and check the flow at both ends, and tell you if a neighbour's section is the cause.

1930s · Compton Acres side, Boundary Road, Loughborough Road

Inter-war semis

Hipped roofs, deep half-round gutters and mature front-garden trees. The corner where the gutter turns to the side elevation is where the outlet blocks, and the garage or porch gutter is usually forgotten altogether.

1960s onwards · Compton Acres, Gamston border

Modern detached and bungalows

Compton Acres and the newer closes towards Gamston have long runs of plastic guttering on wide, low-pitched roofs. Plastic bows between brackets as it ages, so moss and grit collect in the sag. Bungalows get ignored because they look reachable — they still fill up.

Local Knowledge

From our office to your West Bridgford gutters

We're based in New Basford, on the north side of the city, so West Bridgford means crossing the Trent. Here's the run our van makes most weeks.

West Bridgford sits on the south bank of the Trent, in Rushcliffe borough rather than the city — in the Domesday Book as Brigeforde, the ford by the bridge, and for four centuries the estate of the Musters family, who sold the cricket ground and the Trent Bridge Inn after the First World War and released the land that became the planned, tree-lined West Bridgford Estate. For gutters that means a suburb where most of the housing is Edwardian or 1930s, most of the streets are lined with mature limes and planes, and a fair number of the houses are three storeys tall.

We set off from Chelsea House on Chelsea Street in New Basford, NG7, and head into town on the A60 — down Mansfield Road past the Victoria Centre, round the ring road and out along London Road past Notts County’s Meadow Lane ground. Then it’s over Trent Bridge itself, with Forest’s City Ground on the left as you come off the bridge and the Trent Bridge cricket ground on the right — the two landmarks that tell you you’ve arrived.

From the bridge, Radcliffe Road takes us east to Lady Bay and the terraces down towards the river; Loughborough Road runs south past Bridgford Park and Central Avenue’s shops, and Musters Road and Melton Road climb through the big Edwardian villas towards Compton Acres and the Gamston roundabout on the A52.

Door to door it’s about four miles and 20 minutes outside the rush hour — the bridge is the only slow bit — which is why a West Bridgford overflow can usually be dealt with the same week and why there are no travel charges anywhere in NG2.

The Edwardian core and Lady Bay

Musters Road, Melton Road, the avenues around Bridgford Park, and the Lady Bay terraces down towards the river — the older housing, the tallest roofs and the heaviest tree cover.

The 1930s streets and Compton Acres

Boundary Road, Loughborough Road, Rufford Way and the estates out towards Compton Acres and Gamston — inter-war semis, modern detached and bungalows, all at the same fixed pricing.

West Bridgford Questions

Gutter cleaning in West Bridgford, answered

How much does gutter cleaning cost in West Bridgford?

Most West Bridgford semis are £120–£145. Terraces and bungalows start at £95, standard detached houses at £145 and large or three-storey houses at £160. All prices include VAT and are fixed before we start — conservatory, extension and garage gutters are quoted separately.

How long does a gutter clean take in West Bridgford?

About an hour for a typical 1930s semi, 45 minutes for a terrace or bungalow, and up to two hours for a three-storey villa or a large detached house with garage and extension gutters. That includes the GoPro before and after and flushing every downpipe.

Do you cover all of West Bridgford?

Yes — the whole of West Bridgford, Lady Bay and Compton Acres, NG2 5 to NG2 7, from the Lady Bay terraces across the Edwardian avenues to the estates by the Gamston roundabout. If you're nearby in Edwalton, Ruddington, Gamston or Radcliffe-on-Trent, we cover those too.

Can you reach the gutters on a three-storey house in West Bridgford?

Yes. The SkyVac reaches four storeys from the ground with carbon-fibre poles, and the GoPro camera on the end shows us — and you — exactly what is in the gutter. Nobody goes up a ladder, onto a bay roof or across a flat roof to get at the top run. See high-level gutter cleaning for how it works on the tallest villas.

How do I find a reliable gutter cleaner in West Bridgford?

Ask how they reach the gutter, whether they send footage, and whether the price is fixed before they arrive. On the Edwardian streets that matters more than usual: a ladder against 110-year-old brickwork or a slate bay roof is how damage happens. We work from the ground, film every run, fix the price from your property type, and have cleaned 18 West Bridgford houses in the last year with the reviews to show for it.

Do you clean cast-iron and ogee gutters on the Edwardian houses in West Bridgford?

Yes. We vacuum them from the ground rather than leaning ladders on old brickwork, and if a joint is leaking rather than blocked we tell you, with a photo, so you can decide what to do about it. Cast-iron is worth keeping — it just needs clearing more carefully.

How often should West Bridgford gutters be cleaned?

Once a year for most houses, after leaf fall in November. Houses on the tree-lined avenues around Bridgford Park, Musters Road and Melton Road are better twice a year because the limes fill a gutter in a single autumn — our Gutter Health Plan covers that at a fixed price.

How soon can you clean gutters in West Bridgford?

Usually within the week. Send your postcode through the form or call 0800 086 2887 and we come back the same day with a fixed price and the slots we have. We are in West Bridgford most weeks, so an overflow that needs sorting quickly can often be fitted in sooner.

How do I pay for gutter cleaning in West Bridgford?

By card on the day — we carry a SumUp tap-and-go machine and you get a receipt straight away, the same as in a shop. The price is fixed before we start, so what you're quoted is what you pay.

Do I need to be home for the gutter clean?

Yes please — the SkyVac runs off mains power, so we need an outdoor socket or a plug just inside the door. Once we're set up you can carry on with your day, and we send the GoPro before-and-after footage over the same day, easiest by WhatsApp.
